Working with Local Businesses

EnergyConnect and Industry Participation.

Elecnor Australia (formerly SecureEnergy) was awarded the engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) contract for a new 700km 330kv transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border of Transgrid’s EnergyConnect project in June 2021. Construction on this project started in 2022 and is anticipated to be completed within the next 12 months.

Throughout the delivery phase, Elecnor has been committed to providing economic benefit to the local and Indigenous communities along the project route. As of May 2025, almost $240 million has been spent procuring good and services from businesses and suppliers based in the local government areas, and almost $18 million has been spent with First Nations groups and businesses.

Elecnor Australia aims to maximise procurement of local suppliers, where possible, prioritised by three levels of business location:

Level 1

  • Regional Development Australia – Riverina
  • Regional Development Australia – Murray
  • Mildura Regional Development
  • Local Aboriginal Land Councils Areas including Language Group areas intersected by the Project route

Level 2

  • Postcodes within NSW, excluding Level 1

Level 3

  • Postcodes within Australia, excluding Levels 1 and 2
